What Is a Slot?

A slot is a narrow opening in something, often used to hold or guide other components. A slot may also refer to a portion of a screen, such as the area where the reels are displayed. Slots are usually shaped like a triangle or an elongated rectangle, and may contain symbols such as numbers, letters, and other icons that represent game elements.
